Firestarter (2022)

For more than a decade, parents Andy and Vicky have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family's location, a mysterious operative is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.

This movie is nothing short of an absolute dumpster fire, Proving to us once again that just because it is by Stephen King doesn't mean it should be adapted into a film. The writer of this film should be ashamed of how much he butchered the source material and how needlessly confusing he made this film. From the awful director to the bad acting, This movie feels like a straight to TV film and not one that deserves a box office release. I feel sorry for those that wasted money to see it.

Sadly, this adaptation fails to stand out from all the other sci-fi horrors about people being used for experiments. It doesn't even compare to the original 1984 film nor does it stand tall alongside great recent Stephen King adaptations like 2017's IT and 2019's Doctor Sleep. Firestarter is more like Pet Sematary and Carrie, a dull, exhausting remake that doesn't do anything new.

The definition of boredom and wasted potential. Exhausting to watch, with a wasted lead who gave her all to make it work... Taking a premise that should be interesting and possibly thought-provoking into a general, bland, dumpster fire. 1.

Script was terrible and to make things worse, it was completely boring and an absolute slog to get through.

No one here seems to know what they’re doing and, more importantly, why. A strong contender for 2022’s most pointless movie.
