Quite bizarre, but very colourful and sweet. It didn't overall grab me, but it had it's moments. Uma was good as always, but Rain Phoenix is not a very good actor! See it if you are a van Sant fan, but if you don't see it you're not missing out on anything!

the first half was hilarious actually, got distracted eventually. "the chink" was horrendously miscast.

People hated this film and said it destroyed Tom Robbin's fine, whimsical novel. I disagree. I read the book and watched the film, and I think the film is great. I own the soundtrack as well, brilliant music by k.d. lang!

A boring, almost incoherent film that fails to latch onto anything memorable throughout its entire runtime. Despite the occasional inspired creative flair from Gus Van Sant, this is a chore to sit through.
