Elvira's Haunted Hills (2002)

The setting is Carpathia. The year is 1851. When Elvira gets kicked out of an Inn for a slight monetary discrepancy, she is rescued by a local who takes her to stay at the castle in the hills high above the village. The fact that she happens to resemble the count's former "missing" wife opens a can of worms or two.

Don't go to this movie looking to be actually scared, but as a gothic romp it's surprisingly effective.

Unfortunatley it doesn't hit the heights achieved with the first movie and obviously had a much smaller budget. Hills was filmed in Romania and there were reports of tensions with co-star Richard O'Brien. The main failing is the writing that could have taken it past the limitations, but that said it's still rollicking good fun.

Not as funny as the first. 'A' for effort though as it parodied all the old Corman Poe Price flicks from the 1960s.
