Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (2010)

After a bloody invasion of the BOPE in the High-Security Penitentiary Bangu 1 in Rio de Janeiro to control a rebellion of interns, the Lieutenant-Colonel Roberto Nascimento and the second in command Captain André Matias are accused by the Human Right Aids member Diogo Fraga of execution of prisoners. Matias is transferred to the corrupted Military Police and Nascimento is exonerated from the BOPE by the Governor.

This movie was as good as the first. Nascimento has definitely matured as a character and you learn a bit more about the man, rather than what he did for a living. This movie focuses more on the politics of Rio than the first movie. Wagner Moura is truly a wonderful actor, and I think we need to see more of him. You don't need to see the first movie to understand this movie, but you need to see the first movie to appreciate this movie. Roll on Tropa De Elite 3!

It is surprisingly better than the first movie (which received several important prizes). Unfortunately, it is a sequence, and the majority of the film festivals and academies aren't used to honor sequences. Let's wait. The movie really deserves, not only prizes, but worldwide audiences. Fantastic!
