Edge of America (2003)

From acclaimed director Chris Eyre, whom People Magazine calls "…the preeminent Native American filmmaker of his time", comes this touching and inspirational story about loyalty, friendship, and courage. New man in town Kenny Williams has just accepted a position as an English professor at the Three Nations Reservation in Utah. Finding it hard to fit in with the tight-knit Native American community, he decides to take on the challenge of coaching the high school girls' basketball team.

One of a multitude of inspirational sports films over the last five years, most are based on fact, and oddly enough all have just about the same plot. This one is a tad better than most, because it is simpler and more straight forward. The Native American cast is a plus as well.

Good movie about a COACH CARTER/ JOE CLARK type figure who teaches a group of Native American girls on a Utah Reservation to be ball players.

I am a sucker for this kind of movie. Root for the underdogs! This is a chick-flick Independent sports movie centered around an Indian American highschool girls basketball team. Heartwarming, good intentioned filmmaking meant for lightheated enjoyment...
