Drunks succeeds in presenting a fictional AA meeting and getting across the idea that alcoholics come from all walks of life...

Damn shame this movie fell by the wayside. Brilliant monologues, brilliant performances. Very simple, well-told story. Great shots of mid-90's NYC. Definitely one to check out.

Oppresive, banal, contrived and preachey. Not a caracter study but a study in the complete caricature of an AA frequenter.

Richard Lewis plays a "version" of himself... which means this was part of his rehab. And he's phenomenal anyway. Other actors (Wiest, Posey, Rockwell) are great too, even if it's kind of repetitive.

This is a really powerful look at alcoholism and AA meetings...
