Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972)

Set in London in the early 1970's, supposedly for teen thrills, Johnny organises a black magic ceremony in a desolate churchyard. The culmination of the ritual, however, is the rejuvenation of Dracula from shrivelled remains. Johnny, Dracula' s disciple, lures victims to the deserted graveyard for his master's pleasure and one of the victims delivered is Jessica Van Helsing. Descended from the Van Helsing line of vampire hunters her grandfather, equipped with all the devices to snare and destroy the Count, confronts his arch enemy in the age-old battle between good and evil.

In the sixth Hammer Dracula film, the franchise is moved ahead a century to the then present time. Between the dubious premise, the annoying "modern" characters and dialogue and the exasperating hip score, Dracula A.D. 1972 could have been a failed and forgettable movie - if it wasn't for one certain detail: Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are effing AWESOME in this, more than making up for other weaknesses. The low point of the series, perhaps, but among such great films it really isn't saying much.

My friend introduced me to Hammer films with this movie. I thought it was rediculously amazing, and since then I have seen many more of their horror films. Christopher Lee is by far the best Dracula, taking the number one spot away from Legosi. It's a great mix of vampirism and the '70s.

What happens when Count Dracula finds himself in swinging early 70s London? Apparently Hammer Films thought someone would want to know. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing bring more dignity to this film than it deserves. Caroline Munro? HOT!

One of my favorites more 70`s Hammer Horror look out for Stephanie Beecham

Dracula is brought back to life by way of hippy Devil Worshippers to battle the decendent of Van Helsing. The movie starts with Drac and Van Helsing in a fight to the death in the 1800's. But seeing the Count hanging out with a bunch of foppish hippy types is kinda unsettling. And the lame music is dam annoying. That goes for the backround music (like the kind you would here in a TV cop show) and the terrible 'rock' music that the hipsters gyrate to. On the plus side...it has Caroline (MANIAC) Munroe ! Still...this is better than the new romantic vampire crap like TWIGHLIGHT. Vampires are evil spawns of Satan...not angst ridden, emo -drips.
