Je connaissais surtout Fulci pour ses films de gore et ce fut une agréable surprise de le voir oeuvrer dans un genre un peu plus réaliste. Ce film est ce que les italiens nomment un giallo, donc un film d'enquête policière accompagné de scènes explicites de meurtres sanglants, d'une trame sonore souvent particulière et d'une utilisation très présente des jeux de caméra. Fulci réalise ici un film impressionnant, intrigant du début à la fin et soutenu, pour une fois, par des acteurs décents. Il arrive à nous présenter des meurtres d'enfants sans nous dégoûter et sans toutefois nous ménager outre mesure, ce qui constitue un tour de force vu la délicatesse du sujet. Certaines scènes sont lourdes en émotion et en réalisme, et Fulci utilise habilement son talent pour le morbide au profit d'une esthétique réaliste, ce qui donne un résultat très efficace. Si seulement il avait toujours pu rester à ce niveau...

I agree with the poster down below: Barbara Bouchet is possibly the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. This movie was absolutely chilling, and though perhaps not necessarily too difficult to figure out at times, you have to remind yourself WHEN it was released. Directing and soundtrack were also fantastic.

This was a very slow moving film from Lucio Fulci. It really wasn't disturbing or interesting at all and am still wondering why more giallos can't be like Torso. The reason I am giving this movie two stars is for the main lady (who is damn fine) being naked and taunting a little boy with sex and for the reporter who decides to join a conversation by climbing through the window.
