This is nothing like the duel, and they shouldn;t waste 3/4 of the synopsis talking about another movie. The Hitcher is one of the best horror movies ever made, and certainly the best one with a mortal man as the antagonist. Rutger Hauer does a masterful job portraying an ominous, demented serial killer who's true goal is not murder, but to set up naive college kid for the most horrifying experience of his life. This movie is graphic, cruel, and riveting.

Cannot believe this film was remade, what needed changing... nothing! Don't touch it if it's perfect! Rutger Hauer gave a stunning performance.

WOW! I thought this would be a bit of a lame horror film but every scene was amazing. This movie is a classic game of cat and mouse travelling along a road of destruction. They really don't make films like this anymore. The action scenes stand up really well to today's standards without over the top explosions and distracting sound track. The best thing about it is how tense it is. You feel like something terrible awaits the teenager around every corner.I found his acting very real and thought I would be doing the same in his situation. The "Hitcher" is a superb bad guy, really creepy and pyschotic. The pace might be too slow for some people but I thought it was beautifully shot. Perfect for a spooky night in, make sure you have nearby cusions/duvet etc to hide behind.

Simply brilliant. Rutger Hauer is relentlessly unnerving and at time terrifying. I'm quite glad he's not my Dad.
