Silly, fun, energetic WW2 propaganda film. Plot starts with a Memphis Belle type bombing run, then becomes a great escape on the run through occupied Europe. Great to see Robin Hood and Little John riffing again, but Reagan's light-hearted turn outshines them, especially in his double-talk shtick with Massey. The Nazis are hilarious caricatures. Director Walsh had a deceptively light, easy touch with these type of films, often up there with Curtiz and Hawks.

Who knew WW2 was so fun?? What it lacks in legitimacy it makes up in being an entertaining propaganda ride. Lots of humour and some good action set pieces. Flynn is always great on screen, and with Alan Hale you can't go wrong.
