Very beautiful movie, that will make you cry. The shock is sudden, but there were clues given that it would have happened. The romance by cassettes was also touching and it shares the title of most moving picture with 1 litre of tears. It built up their relationship but their love was taken away. Finally, i love the ending song, hitomi wo tojite by Hirai Ken.

Like so many Japanese films and TV series of the era, "Sekachu" is cut from the vein of Shakespearean tragedy; with star-crossed lovers finding only tragedy in love. While it does fall back on cliches at times, the true strength of the film lies in it's execution. You'll rarely find a movie of this kind that can pull out your strongest emotions almost effortlessly. Highly recommended.
