Really, really, really wanted to avoid giving this a red score, so I did. I gave it a 4 because I know Clint is a great actor and director, but his age is definitely showing here. And while he wasn't bad, he wasn't as good as his old self like he was in The Mule. What really made this film not so great was the terrible supporting cast and story. There literally wasn't much to work with here on all angles. This movie seemed to be just made out of boredom from Clint. It was pretty weak and lame. BUT, it gets 4 stars for being a bit charming. Couldn't stand the kid....

So much of Eastwood’s career over the last two decades has proven that his age and experience has incredible cinematic value when he holds himself to the high standards he set for himself years ago. When he doesn’t, which is sadly the case with Cry Macho, the uninspired results leave you with wistful memories of what once was.

It’s a slow-release dose of sincere feelings.

It's really time for Clint Eastwood to retire, he's way to old to be doing all this work

God bless old Clint for still having the energy to stay active in the cinema world but the last couple of his films have been stale & lacking real action drama. The story was dull right from the start. I almost scored it lower but my spouse enjoyed it so I gave it a middle of the road grade.
