Gladys Glover has just lost her modeling job when she meets filmmaker Pete Sheppard shooting a documentary in Central Park. For Pete it's love at first sight, but Gladys has her mind on other things, making a name for herself. Through a fluke of advertising she winds up with her name plastered over 10 billboards throughout city.

Makes even more sense nowadays with all those "reality TV shows" where people dream of fame - without actually being famous for anything. Good one!

*** (out of four) A rather typical set up is given a fresh look mainly due to a fun and endearing performance from Judy Holliday. She is so warm and loveable that she helps you forget the somewhat routine script. Holliday plays a young woman who moves to New York to make it in the world. She rents out a billboard and becomes a sensation in the Big Apple. Peter Lawford and Jack Lemmon add fine support, but it is Holliday's movie all the way.

Jack Lemmon's film debut. Judy Holliday was great, as was the writing from husband & wife team Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon. The film was sweet and charming--makes me want to watch more movies with Holliday.

Judy Holliday is a one of a kind actress, and it's a shame she didn't make more films. There is no one else quite like her. She is always such a delight and so genuine. This movie is a fine addition to her resume, fun, with a unique story and it's very well handled. It works, thanks to Judy and a great first role for Jack Lemmon. Excellent George Cukor direction.

Lovely comedy with some sharp observations. Judy is radiant and Jack's debut performance is a gem.
