Skillfully reinforces Chisholm as a refreshingly quixotic populist, running on fervor and indignation.

Dennis Harvey 07 Dec 2007

Solid, straightforward docu should prove a durable broadcast and educational item for years to come.

Ned Martel 28 Jul 2012

Ultimately, the adored candidate looks as if she were really running for posterity, not for the presidency - a noble, lesser accomplishment.

An excellent documentary about a fearless lady and her bold campaign for the nation's top political office. Rather than wait for the "right time," Chisholm stepped into the presidential race in 1972 as not only the first black person, but also the first female Democrat to mount a serious presidential campaign. She also did it on her own terms.

James Greenberg 19 Feb 2013

Rather than seeming dated, Chisholm's moxie and commitment is a refreshing antidote to the opportunism and cynicism that rules the political roost today.
