Carousel (1956)

Billy Bigelow has been dead for 15 years. Now outside the pearly gates, he long ago waived his right to go back to Earth for a day. He has heard that there is a problem with his family: namely with his wife Julie Bigelow, née Jordan, and his child he hasn't met. He would now like to head back to Earth to assist in rectifying the problem; but before he may go, he has to get permission from the gatekeeper by telling him his story. Adapted from the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit Broadway musical.

one of my favorite muscials. i like them better in oklahoma but this one is good too.

Such a good story. It is sad, but pulls through with a happy ending. The Carousel Waltz melts my heart when I hear it.

the most beautiful musical even made...i defy you not to cry....and Gordon MacRae is very fine indeed........and yes it is Shirley from the Partridge Family!!

Another Rodger's & Hammerstein masterpiece. Shirley Jones stars as innocent Julie who falls in love with bad boy Billy. Billy dies and goes to heaven but is summoned back to earth when he hears that his daughter Louise is going down the wrong path. Carousel is filled with some of most beautiful music written.

Good old fashioned family values. Punching the wife and hitting the kid, yeah, America's golden age. Wished it had Elvis.
