Dr. Tony Flagg's friend Steven has problems in the relationship with his fiancée Amanda, so he persuades her to visit Tony. After some minor misunderstandings, she falls in love with him. When he tries to use hypnosis to strengthen her feelings for Steven, things get complicated.

You could probably call Carefree more of a screwball comedy than a typical Astaire-Rogers musical.

Can only barely recommend this, the "psychiatry" in this is a joke, Fred and Ginger really don't dance much together, and the plot is pretty pitiful. Ginger displays more of her great comedic talent, however, and she's wonderful, like usual. Enjoyed her sedated spree of carnage. Astaire is sadly just kind of "there" in this, he's not bad or anything, but the script really doesn't give him any opportunities to shine.

I wish I enjoyed this movie more because it is a fred and ginger and Fred is a psychologist! It made me laugh at times but something didn't quite catch me as special like most other Fred and Gingers do for me

"The Yam" dance is great - I love watching Ginger swirl over Fred's leg time and again - but what a lousy unethical plot. And poor Ralph! (Again.)

My favorite of the Astaire Rogers series, yet it was considered a flop by critics and lost RKO money.....??? Very witty and lighthearted and best dances in there. I love "I Used to be Colorblind".
