I loved the feel of this movie. The reunion of friends after years apart; the flashbacks and memories that flood back upon them meeting; the chance encounters that occur during that weekend. Even the ending, which left me with some questions and feeling of somewhat incompleteness is appropriate for the situation, as I too have felt that way upon saying good-bye to friends who live far away. Lovely film.

The tale doesn't always seem sure where it's going, and for once in his career, Leigh doesn't always appear to have a firm grasp on his project.

Such a cunning little altruistic parasite this guy [Leigh] is. I start the film saying to myself: "The music is awful, the characters are way over the top - no way I'm gonna like this." But damn if he doesn't find a way to make me eat my words.
