Hilarious and outgoing, Brittany Forgler, is everybody's best friend ― except her own. Her partying, underemployment and toxic relationships are catching up with her. She receives a startling wake-up call when a visit to the doctor reveals how unhealthy she is. Motivated to lose weight, but too broke for a gym and too proud to ask for help, Brit is at a loss, until her neighbor pushes her to run one sweaty block. Soon, she sets an almost unthinkable goal: the New York City Marathon.

Brittany is funny and authentic, but she can also be prickly and stubborn, even hard to like. You know, the way real people are.

I went to this movie thinking she would run a marathon, instead she broke her kneecap and fell off the road into a ditch, where she was later found dead.

This movie manages to be funny and interesting while (more importantly) delivering a great inspirational message. I enjoyed it and i believe more people should watch it.

Brittany Runs a Marathon is a quirky, relatable and, at times, upsetting comedy that has far more heart than its promotional materials might suggest. Whilst this film does joke and mock stereotypes, it also gives its characters a much needed chance at redemption, and to change their ways.

The movie is very hard on its protagonist, and not all the obstacles, humiliations and setbacks escape the realm of cheap pathos. Bell and company keep it honest, though.
