Casts its spell by drawing out the horror of everyday existence bit by bit, and then tossing in some otherworldly weirdness that makes the hair on the back of your neck try to run for cover.

I can't quite explain it, but I felt like I was reading a book and not really watching a movie - this may sound like a bad thing, like the film is way too talkative or expository but it's nothing of that sort, actually it's quite the opposite and I meant as a compliment. The characters are developed in such subtle, practically invisible way that I could not stop thinking of literature. It has its charms, it's obviously well-written and well-shot, but it also felt too long to me at times. It's certainly interesting, nonetheless.
