I have to say, there is no doubt that Kiyoshi Kurosawa is better at drama than horror. I do like his horror movies but his dramas are really fantastic films. This film is manificantly shot and Kurosawa really is a master at compositions, he doesnt overuse the close up and with his Cinematographer creates such a somber tone. This is a film that slowly moves along the way but it never slow, its really an interesting statement about the youth of the world, its definetly grim.

I picked this up because Tadanobu Asano is one of my favourite actors as I've heard a lot about director Kiyoshi Kurosawa. It's a very strange film and I suspect it'll put off a lot of people but those who stick with it will discover an enigmatic, deliberately paced movie with beautiful imagery and surprising range.

A really good movie but it seemed to drag on in some scenes. The characters were so strange that you loved them.

Beau film de Kiyoshi Kurosawa, dans une veine plus douce et dramatique que ses derniers faits d'armes; rien d'approprement dit horrifique ici, on est loin des sombres Kairo/Cure. On repense cela Ã©tant Ã "Charisma" (et pas seulement mais surtout Ã Charisma) sauf qu'ici le film est moins lourd, confus et encombrÃ© par son propos philosophique. Il y a une certaine lÃ©gÃ¨retÃ© dans la rÃ©alisation (en + de l'usage de la camÃ©ra numÃ©rique) qui permet d'apprÃ©cier un peu plus les rapports humains qui se tissent entre les personnages. On retiendra notamment cette superbe scÃ¨ne de clÃ´ture au bord du canal. Enfin bref, Bright Future est un objet curieux, hantÃ© par les visions Ã la fois surrÃ©alistes et pessimistes mais toujours contemplatives de Kiyoshi Kurosawa, pas aussi puissant que Cure et/ou Kairo mais suffisamment intÃ©ressant pour y jeter un oeil.

Extremely confusing movie if you aren't paying attention. Even then so at times. Finished the film because I wanted to see how some of the Japanese I've been tinkering with is used in a modern context.
