Lars Von Trier takes us on an emotional tour-de-force, questioning love, commitment and religion. Emily Watson gives a great and memorable performance as the troubled Bess, and Katrin Cartlidge provides excellent support. The only flaw has to be that final scene!

Oh, Emily Watson ripped my soul apart with her performance in this film. I wanted to dive into the movie and save her. It's a total slit-your-wrists movie but sooo worth it. As an added bonus it uses Elton John's "Your Song" to great effect way before that whole Moulin Rouge rip.
