Boarding School has some edge by being told from a child’s perspective, even though it's not for kids. A lot of great directors have told this kind of story, and while Guillermo Del Toro might be the most popular living one to do it, it’s Louis Malle that comes to mind.

this movie has some holes, but I liked it, it's fresh. this movie with a larger budget could be a great Gothic horror. great acting by the kid that portrays Jacob. I recommend this movie.

Boarding School often feels as if it's trying to cram too many concepts into a narrative container that is too conventional and constrictive to accommodate them all.

I liked this movie. Its redeeming feature is the excellent performance by its lead, Luke Prael, and the script has very few, if any plot holes. So, this is about 12 year old boy who gets send away to boarding school because his mother can't stand him screaming every night because he has nightmares. (Indeed, mother of the year she ain't). It's a tiny boarding school of just 7 pupils, including Christine, the daughter of his stepfathers boss. They immediately notice that there's something amiss at this school..... What I liked about this movie is the intelligent script. The victims lack their usual, highly annoying stupidity, of trusting the perp too much, to the point of stupidity. 7,5 of ten The Melancholic Alcoholic.

For me this was one of those small burn films. No one I knew had seen it so I sat down with no preconceived expectations at all. It started slow, and I thought quirky but nothing special; but half way thorough I realised that I was enjoying it. Well worth a go.
