Chock full of elements that never spark beyond one-sheet dimension.

This is a failure on just about every count. The only things that kept me intrigued about this movie were the better-than-this-movie sound design and Asia Argento looking very good while disheveled.

Sucks pretty hard, but there's some lovely cinematography. It takes some especially lame writing to kill a scene between Michael Madsen and Asia Argento. The two of them are so magnetic, but definetely not in Boarding Gate, where the dialogue is nothing but reminiscent babble interrupted only by autoerotic asphyxiation. The mystery and intrigue of their two characters is steadily bogged down by useless exposition. I tired quickly. And once Argento goes solo for the second half of the film, I was just confused by the plot and exhausted by the pace. Very laborious, but some good acting.

not as good as expected the part that depict the Hong Kong scenenary are little bit strange and lost the sense of uncanny

Assayas' eye for details and challenging pacing is what makes this movie worth watching. It's not like anything else you've seen in the crime genre- Argento is rightfully skanky looking most of the film, but does a good job with her character. What I think works against it is the fact that this is a world that the average person has no experience or level of understanding for - but it worked for me.
