Searing drama about the dog eat dog world of blue collar factory workers. Compelling, gritty and touching all in the same turn. Truly a triumph of storytelling and filmmaking.

Three Detroit auto workers, tired of shabby treatment by management and union, get in over their head when they orchestrate a small heist of union funds which uncovers evidence of union corruption. Pryor, Keitel and Kotto are all outstanding, especially Pryor whose effortless charisma shines through in simple scenes such as watching the Jeffersons and complaining about his broken locker. Filmed in the Motor City, where the working man drank Stroh's.

Didn't know what to expect from this. Directorial debut from the man that wrote Taxi Driver and certain comparisons could be drawn, particularly the way Schrader is interested in building and developing his characters. The movie involves three working class guys who work at a car factory. They're down on their luck in different aspect of their lives and try to do something about it. Pryor is great in a straight role and Keitel and Kotto do a great job too. Scrader knows how to develop his character and their relationships with one another, and this is what makes the movie. If you're not invested in these 3 guys, then the movie doesn't work. BC raises some important political issues of the time, without ever being preachy. BC is an interesting film with some unexpectantly dark moments, the writing and direction are superb too, its a shame we didn't get to see Pryor in too many roles like this.

Arguably one of the Seventiest of Seventies movies, all guts and steel and murky politics. The three leads are on top form â?? Pryor leaves you wishing heâ??d had more straight roles, while Yaphet Kotoâ??s performance reminds you what a fine actor he was in this period. Itâ??s not exactly subtle, but itâ??s remarkable to revisit a time when (relatively) mainstream cinema actually offered films like this. The closest youâ??ll come now is Season Two of The Wire.

Outstanding. Brilliant debut from Schrader. The acting is excpetional especially Richard Pryor performance, it's a shame he never had many straight roles he was an amazing actor.
