Maybe this title is to Jackie Chan as Moonraker was to James Bond, an extravagant attempt to imitate the box office fare of its time, which only highlighted the throwback quality of the central character. It's a "jump the shark" moment.

It's a silly action film for teenagers who like Jackie Chan films. It's not his finest effort though. All the great big stunts you'd expect and daft slapstick moments are there. The story is half baked and the bad guys are more power rangers than threatening real menace.

I give it one star for Jackie Chan. I'm glad the economy got a boost by having the movie made here and the out takes show all of the hard work and effects that go into making a film, so I give that credit. Unfortunately the Australian cast did nothing to compliment this movie. When I saw Kym Gingell I was surprised as I thought he'd made it big in Hollywood in his first big screen appearance and was happy for him, then I realized it was made in Oz. Then there's the female villain's black cape costume.....not sure who was in charge of wardrobe, but was not convincing. Quite laughable at times and not because it was funny. It started out like a blockbuster only to end as a ballbreaker. Such a shame as it had potential.

It's alright. If you like Jackie CHan then it will be entertaining. He's actually not the comic relief in this movie. action is good but story is okay. it's somewhat like the foreigner.

While Bleeding Steel is most certainly inane and incomprehensible it's also... a little bit fun?
