This is a very interesting early Bogart film. One of Warners' 1930s social problem pictures with a story 'ripped from the headlines' as they were so fond of doing. Be careful if you're used to Bogart as a hero and don't want to see his other side.

Bogie tried to play a joke on his friend by shooting him four times, but he just didn't get it.

A really different film and role for Humphrey Bogart, as he gets passed over for promotion to a foreigner and decides to join a thinly-veiled (pardon the pun) cloaked organization to gain some vengeance. His acting is getting better and you can tell he's just a couple of roles away from superstardom.
