Oh my. A film that could irrevocably destroy everyone's career that was involved with it. Deservedly so. Barely so bad it's good, it's more "so bad it's astonishing". Scenes stay in wide shots as actors pause, waiting for their cue, ludicrous plot devices are used and logic is continuously thrown to the wind. Brody sucks horribly as both the determined detective and the killer Yellow, who looks like a cross between Splitting Image puppets of Rambo and Woody Allen. Whoever the lead gal was (I can't be bothered to look up her name) was even worse, but unlike a lot of films where the rule is, "If there is a worse actor in the scene everyone else can get away with poor acting" it seems Argento was holding a competition on who could give the worst performance. In that case, everyone's a winner. Just terrible, and I'm not an Argento fan, but I can see where fans would forgive his bad writing and characters because of his style, but now it's just plain garbage. Embarrassing.

It's actually not bad. No, no, hear me out--it's restrained for an Argento and the plot is ridiculously easy to suss out, but I don't think those are Argento's priorities. Think of this as a character study, of a man so obsessed with justice he himself is some kind of ruthless killer as well. Think of it as 'Dexter Does Italy'--Turin, to be exact. Cut out the last three minutes and it could arguably be Argento's cruelest film to date.

For enjoyable serial killer movie from the mind of Dario Argento. Not a true giallo film, but well done nonetheless. There is some decent acting and a great storyline to be had here, and a seria killer that is awesome.

It was an alright movie with blood and violence, but Adrien Brody really made it worth watching. If Brody wasn't in it I'd probably would rate it 2 stars.

I am a huge Dario Argento fan and have seen all of his films. Unfortunately, Giallo ranks near the bottom of his oeuvre alongside The Card Player and Do You Like Hitchcock? In fact, Giallo is more miserably boring and unoriginal than either of those films, which at least have a decent premise. Giallo's only real cleverness lies in the fact that it names itself after the genre and then features a yellow killer, thus causing the title to become a double entendre. But even this premise proves unoriginal because Frank Miller's Sin City (and its cinematic adaptation) already featured a yellow killer, hence making this film seem entirely derivative. Argento never really exhibits his stylistic flourishes in this film, and the actors all fall completely flat. I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed Mother of Tears as a return to form for Argento, but Giallo proves to be a thoroughly disappointing followup.
