The acting was believable and the movie was entertaining, but some things didn't make sense and the reveal at the end was lame. It isn't a bad movie, but I wouldn't recommend watching it to the people who don't like movies with bad plot twists.

This would not be a thriller without revelations and the film has some good reveals, but the final surprise almost ruins the movie, because it feels like a "twist" for no particular reason.

Any goodwill that Black Butterfly might have earned over 80 minutes is first seriously damaged by the too neat wrap-up, and then destroyed completely in the dying seconds.

Black Butterfly offers riveting thrills and unique twists as well as fine performances from Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Though, the choppy editing made this film difficult to follow at certain points which is such a shame. I really enjoyed the premise of the film which followed a writer that offers a stranger a place to stay, but things eventually went bad. Towards the end of the film it seemed as if there would actually be a satisfying ending, but adding more to a film is not always the solution. The ridiculous ending along with the choppy editing overshadows the great plot and performances. All in all, this film was certainly interesting despite its flaws.
