Completely predictable from beginning to end, but Nicole Kidman brings the goods.

Terrific as Nadia, a Russian mail-order bride who comes to America speaking not a word of English, it's Kidman who holds the film together with a supremely kittenish performance that gradually accumulates more layers.

First of all may I say that the naming of this movie was bad -- the movie's theme from start to finish does not have anything to do with "Birthday"!! That being said, it was a decent movie, with mediocre acting but lot of twists and an unpredictable and quite interesting (in a good way) ending. Nicole Kidman's angelic, charming presence throughout the movie obviously adds to an overall improvement in viewing pleasure!
