Sure, it's a cash-in. It's also widely underrated. The film doesn't really know what to do with itself at many points, giving it an aimless quality, but it still manages to have several very funny moments. The outtakes with Sellers are pretty effective. Not a bad way to end the series, considering that at this point Sellers was dead. It offers up a little closure that would be quickly ended by two even more ridiculous sequels.

Tann vanaligasti filmurin i seriuni (i hvussu er av teimum vid Peter Sellers). Peter Sellers var deydur, ta id tey gjordu hendan filmin, so allar hansara senur eru tiknar fra odrum Pink Panther-filmum. Hetta hevur otruliga ringa avirkan a filmin! Tad er als onki skil a soguni og "fraveran" hja Peter Sellers ger filmin otruliga kediligan og trugv ti ella ei: Hansara "fravera" gongur eisini ut yvir humorin i filminum! Nogvar jokes eru otruliga vanaligar, medan tar flestu stuttligu jokes'nar hava okkurt at gera vid, ironiskt nokk, Peter Sellers - tad er her, tey bruka gamlar senur fra odrum filmum! Filmurin er ein sera ussalig roynd hja Hollywood at tjena pengar uppa eina deyda filmstjornu, sum als ikki var vid til at gera filmin!

The Pink Panther diamond goes missing - and then en route to the scene of the crime, Clouseau's plane goes missing! A sleuthing reporter is assigned to memorialize the fabled detective, but in the process, she comes up against some strange behavior from a delirious Dreyfus as well as Clouseau's duplicitous ex-wife, his lusty father (Mulligan) and The Phantom! stars Peter Sellers, Herbert Lom, Burt Kwouk, David Niven, Richard Mulligan, Joanna Lumley, Capucine, Robert Loggia and Harvey Korman. directed by Blake Edwards.

Odd little trivial movie here. Mostly trivial because of course, it "stars" Peter Sellers as Closeau, even though he was dead at the time.(MGM got sued by Seller's estate for their troubles) Made of course, with cutting room floor scenes from other PP movies, and then mostly filler about the dissapearance of Closeau (with flashback scenes to flesh the movie out) this is a very curious movie. I have no idea WHY they had to make this movie, but they did, and it's a perfectly banal waste of time on everyone's part. Poor David Niven has his final role here. He was too ill to speak, so they had Rich Little dub his voice. Poor Poor David Niven. The only bright spot of this was the sheep dog trained to move the old woman around, which was very very funny. Other than that.
