The Pink Panther diamond is stolen once again from Lugash and the authorities call in Chief Inspector Clouseau from France. His plane disappears en-route. This time, famous French TV reporter Marie Jouvet sets out to solve the mystery and starts to interview everybody connected to Clouseau.

Uses only archive footage of Peter Sellers as he had already died when this movie was made

I think this film gets an unfair rap because the good inspector is hardly in it. They could have gone Game of Death à la Bruce Lee, but instead chose to rewrite into something very clever. If you sit back and try to think of it as a panther -not Clouseau- film, you will surely enjoy this installment that has an international flavour, all of Brooks' fantastic writing, and yes, even some Clouseauesque slapstick charm.

Tann vanaligasti filmurin i seriuni (i hvussu er av teimum vid Peter Sellers). Peter Sellers var deydur, ta id tey gjordu hendan filmin, so allar hansara senur eru tiknar fra odrum Pink Panther-filmum. Hetta hevur otruliga ringa avirkan a filmin! Tad er als onki skil a soguni og "fraveran" hja Peter Sellers ger filmin otruliga kediligan og trugv ti ella ei: Hansara "fravera" gongur eisini ut yvir humorin i filminum! Nogvar jokes eru otruliga vanaligar, medan tar flestu stuttligu jokes'nar hava okkurt at gera vid, ironiskt nokk, Peter Sellers - tad er her, tey bruka gamlar senur fra odrum filmum! Filmurin er ein sera ussalig roynd hja Hollywood at tjena pengar uppa eina deyda filmstjornu, sum als ikki var vid til at gera filmin!

Sadly, Sellers died during the filming of this entry. Most of the film is developed around flashbacks. A sad farewell to a comic genius.

The first 40 minutes or so are actually surprisingly non-godawful, that's not to say that they're good, but at least the footage wasn't used in other movies (mostly). It is outtakes, which naturally are less funny, but it has it's few moments of chuckles. HOWEVER! As soon as we learn that Clouseau has been "lost" the movie turns into the most horrible and extremely morbid film I've ever seen. They have these sad interviews of the lovable minor cast members and then a good scene from a previous film. Also there is usually some terrible new music cue over the old scene (to make it funnier!). And the ending is probably the single most disrespectful image I've ever seen. It is mind-blowing in how horrific it is. In the opening animated credit sequence it appears for a second that the animated Clouseau is peeing on Blake Edwards' story credit (it is later revealed that he is just spraying a hose). Blake Edwards must have known that this film would make the fans hate his guts...
