Beneath the Dark starts off interestingly: after nearly having a wreck, a couple spend the night in a seedy motel that seems to harbor dark and perhaps supernatural secrets. However, by the time the obligatory trick ending rolls around, you will realize that Beneath the Dark is a well-made horror film in which almost nothing horrific happens. And a not-so-original twist ending cannot save it.

Not really sure how i feel about this movie. The acting was not especially great and the plot was at times unclear. It had the normal suspense of any movie of its kind with no real climax. But as you get to the end of the movie it became surprising interesting and really begin to understand the hidden message. At the very end i was left unsure and i have to admit i had to watch the last 20 mins over again to really understand what the movie was all about. Normally i do not like a movie where that happens but in this case i really appreciated what the director did. You had to really think and draw a conclusion for yourself. all and all i thought it was a very smart and well written/directed thriller. i would recommend it to those who like deep hidden meaning flicks.
