This is a decent western but it's not great

Sort of a pedestran western if you ask me. The only thngs to spruce it up s the addition of James Stewart and a very young Rock Hudson (spurting off unintentionally gay dialogue that noone else can) in the cast. A group of settlers go up north to Try For A New Life. The problem is, the supplies they need for the winter have been mysterioiusly delayed. When Stewart and company go down there, they find the supplies are withheld by corrupt politicians! Stewart must fight tooth and nail to get these supplies back to where they belong. As I said. this is nothing original, but it's entertaining because of Jimmy Stewart, (and ok, Stepin Fetchit is always a strange sight to see in American movies) and there's some entertaining moments with the Antagonists (they keep dying), so maybe it's worth seeing if you do stumble across it.

Furious! One great western. Apparently, the road to redemption involves kicking all kinds of ass.

I don't think Jimmy Stewart has ever made a bad film, and I particularly like his westerns. This is a fine western, it has depth, good characters and strong production.

This 'obscure' and 'light" 1952 western is my favorite of all time. You can see it as a standard genre adventure (get the wagons through) but the paring and contrasting of Stewart and Kennedy makes this something much deeper if you are prepared to look. It also contains two of the coolest scenes of all time. One is the mid-shot of Stewart, Kennedy and Hudson shooting their way out of the Saloon and the other is Stewart's anger at the campfire scene. Some actors have come close to Stewart's position as an 'everyman' (Tom Hanks for example), but what they all lack is the ability to get angry like you can feel it. A little masterpiece.
