Julia Lambert is a true diva: beautiful, talented, weathly and famous. She has it all - including a devoted husband who has mastermined her brilliant career - but after years of shining in the spotlight she begins to suffer from a severe case of boredom and longs for something new and exciting to put the twinkle back in her eye. While the film isn't quite perfect, it's close enough - especially in Annette Bening's glorious lead performance - that it seems churlish to complain.

Annette Bening nos entrega una leccion sobre la actuacion incluida en una pelicula acerca de la actuacion que todo aspirante a actor deberia ver y estudiar una y otra vez, pese a que el director IStvan Szabo, como es costumbre, le da un ritmo pesado y letargico.

Si la Academia hubiera sido justa, Annette Bening tendría en su casa el Oscar por este papel, porque su interpretación es absolutamente magistral, una de las mejores que he visto en los últimos años (es una lástima que se prodigue tan poco en pantalla). Pero además de la interpretación de Bening, la película es una gran historia sobre el mundo del teatro. István Szabó nos ofrece una gran película, un retrato del teatro y la vida social londinense de preguerra. Un saludo!
