In London, during October 1993, England is playing Holland in the preliminaries of the World Cup. The Bosnian War is at its height, and refugees from the ex-Yugoslavia are arriving. Football rivals, and political adversaries from the Balkans all precipitate conflict and amusing situations. Meanwhile, the lives of four English families are affected in different ways by encounter with the refugees.

Honestly, unless one lives in Europe it's hard to truly relate to this film. The biggest flaw here is that it takes the film 30-45 minutes to introduce all of the characters and side-plots, which makes it difficult to grasp until later in the going. The ending is also very abrupt and underdeveloped.

Stunning debut film by Dizdar is a unique surprise for short-cuts-style-narrative, seen all trough the contradictions of different worlds of Eastern and Western Europe, war and peace, rality and hallucination and cellmates in each individable unit of the society. A warning for death of humanity and rebirth of genocide, it is a must see in our turbulant world today.

this is a very misleading image for a very smart film; funny as hell and it jabs you in the eye like an ice cream headache named history (see W.Benjamin's lesser known essay on "The Fast Ice Eater Named History." yes this is good, I don't remember the scene with the cleavage and the munitions (that's actually the title of Zizek's next seminar)

Writer/director Jasmin Dizdar follows the lives of everyday Londoners who are doing their best to navigate everyday chaos. From Balkan refugees to unexpected pregnancies, from unwanted boyfriends to unwanted legs, these ordinary people find their lives are inexplicably entwined. The outstanding ensemble cast includes Julian Firth, Danny Nussbaum, Charlotte Coleman, Steve Sweeney, Rosalind Ayres and Edward Jewesbury.
