A truly exceptional film to change Batman from cartoony and comic character to more of a realistic approach. While Batman Begins features some unrealistic aspects, the characters and the stakes of the film is amazingly done. Highlights of the film include Christian Bale's take on the brooding superhero, Cillian Murphy's wonderous portrayal as The Scarecrow - and the payoff of a lovely scripted and memorable film that kicks off a truly epic trilogy.

The best told origins of Batman (Bruce Wayne) to date. With an amazing script, cast and director behind the magic, Batman Begins is just the beginning of the greatest comic book movie trilogy out there.

If you go back and watch this movie after 2012 - after several reboots of franchises - after the glut of comic book action movies - and this absolutely has to be the greatest superhero movie ever made in terms of story, cinematography, action, writing, and acting. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Rutger Hauer, Linus Roache (before Law and Order), and probably Christian Bale's finest performance. You see the beginnings of Liam Neesom's resurgence of an action star playing the villain. The best of course is Gary Oldman. Like just about every movie he has ever been in, it take about 15-30 minutes into his character before you realize it is Gary Oldman playing the part. That is how good he is at disappearing into his role. Remember how great and "dark" everybody thought the 1989 Batman movie was with Nicholson and Prince. Try watching it after this one and try not to be disgusted with yourself at how good you thought that version was.

I love this film and it's because they showed how Batman's life started and when he was a kid and at the theatre when his parents died.
