Bangkok Revenge (2011)

Manit witnessed the murder of his parents when he was just 10 years old. The killers shot him in the head, but he miraculously survived. However, the damage to his brain left him unable to experience regular human emotions. A martial arts master saved him and took him in. Twenty years later, Manit has become a master of martial arts himself. He returns to the scene of the crime, seeking justice.

Decent fighting scenes but plot of movie was silly.

Bangkok Dangerous is one of those movies from the far east that you'll forget five minutes after watching it. It's pretty terrible. Cliche'd, boring and less than mediocre, it fails on so many levels. The concept of a fighter who has no emotion is a good one, but they never go far enough with it, AND they constantly violate it all the time, leaving many a plot hole. The acting doesn't make it any better either. Watching Asian actors phoenetically say bad dialogue with the wrong inflections can be fun, but not in this instance. The action itself is ho-hum; a lot of close-ups, multiple angles, speed up/slow down, and of course, the dreaded shakey cam thing. It's not that great. At least there's real blood. There is that. Well, there isn't much else good to say about it. I'd say skip it and find other Asian action movies worth watching. I'd recommend something like Police Story or Hard Boiled. Now those are good example of great Asian action cinema.

Manit tiene diez años cuando sorprendentemente para una pelicuala de accion tailandesa su familia es masacrada de una manera horrible y espantosa frente a su cara y al dejarlo por muerto los malhechores lo dejan tan dañado que su cerebro queda incapacitado de procesar emociones y la enfermera que lo saca del hospital para poder salvar su vida y se convierte en su madre putativa se lo encarga a un viejo sabio retirado en un pueblo abandonado que lo va a entrenar noche y dia durante veinte años para que al final busque su venganza. como no tiene emociones la curada es que las escenas de accion las hace con us cara de aqui no ha pasado nada aunque se este enfrentando a asesinas lolitas tailandesas sadomasoquistas travestis lidereadas por una cantante de opera rusa que siempre canta en embajadas y que usa sus poderes para transportar drogas por el mundo. el estilo de pelea esta bastante interesante y si desccuentas el hecho de que la trama no tiene logica te puedes divertir.

The film is smart enough to keep it short and sweet and Jon Foo packs a hell of a punch (and kick and elbow and knee), but it still isn't enough to make Bangkok Revenge even remotely decent.

Avoid this movie at all costs. Terribly written, if you can even say it was written and terribly acted. Usually with this kind of film you can say at least the fight sequences were good, but even then they were butchered by quick cuts and the camera being far too close up like in Batman Begins. I nearly walked out 30 minutes into this train wreck, but decided to stick with it till the end, now I wish I had and saved myself 2 hours of torture.
