anthony hopkins is great in this playing a beareved father to his five year old audrey rose who died in a car crash, and now 11 years later in newyork, certain a couple with a young daughter has her reincarnated in her, so he watches them untill certain, and makes contact, the couple ont take kindly to this, but when there young daughter begins to have horrific nightmares, and attacks of the mind, this just may be true. a well made psychological horror, seen a lot in the 70s, some nice touches, and story is well told, even with change in direction to film, which works well

Pretentious new-agey claptrap attempting to pass itself off as horror, "Audrey Rose" is plodding, poorly acted, tedious, and not the least bit scary. Only Anthony Hopkins manages to successfully survive this misfire with his dignity intact. It doesn't help that I watched "The Exorcist" a few nights prior to this. Remember, kids: demonic possession=scary. Reincarnation=boring.

Directed by the great Robert Wise (The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Haunting, The Sound of Music, etc.), Audrey Rose has an interesting premise: a young girl dies in a car crash, her spirit reincarnates in a girl being born only a moment later, and the second girl is haunted by the dead girl. Unfortunately, the premise is not pulled off very well. Despite featuring a very young Anthony Hopkins and Robert Wise at the helm, Audrey Rose is a boring Exorcist-style film that never features anything remotely creepy and that simply repeats itself for the better part of two hours. A thorough disappointment in my book.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE . . . I first saw it when I was 8 with my grandmother on Home Box Office . . . There is Past Life Regression . . . in this case Ivy is born the moment Audrey Rose dies and the two share the same body. It makes me a little sad discussing it (Audrey Rose's father (played by Anthony Hopkins) tracks down his deceased daughter's soul to Ivy Tempelton who is having nightmares of dying in a car accident JUST [in the same manner] AS AUDREY ROSE HOOPER had died . . . just watch the movie when you get a chance . . . younger viewers (people born in 1985 and stuff won't like it because its "old") But we've had a child die in our family and . . . yes . . .I know the soul goes on. Michael Small's soundtrack has just been released on CD earlier this year.
