five stars - not for being good (it would only get three for that) but for being cheesy. love cheesy movies.

Just watched this sorry excuse for a movie via MST3K and it was SO AWFUL, I had to leave the room several times. Definitely riff worthy. What a waste of $500,000. That money could have gone to feed the hungry or cancer research. I especially feel bad for Graham Greene, as I have appreciated his work in other films. Why did he sign on to do this movie? He had to have known it was lacking! Why, Graham Greene!?!

Laugh out loud funny definitely an Oscar consideration. OPP's Treach deserves to be in the running for the postseason. Damn the tomatoes full ketchup ahead!!!!

I haven't seen Pacific Rim, the source of this rip-off, but I did see Cloverfield, to which this has been compared. Let me tell you that's unfair. This movie makes Cloverfield look like King Lear!

So deliciously cheezy! The acting was pretty meh, but the characters were so overboard with stereotypes it was amusing. I think I liked the sets the most, reminded me of like 1950's sci-fi. Since I went in expecting a mockbuster, and a mockbuster is what I got, I feel my rating is appropriate :)
