Astonishing imagery, almost non-stop, the story fuzzy except in the broadest terms. Well worth watching.

More clearly influenced by Sergei Eisenstein than any of Dovzhenko's other pictures, it's certainly the one that uses fast editing in the most exciting fashion.

I must admire that I'm generally a big fan of early Soviet movies. The excellency of timless productions of Eisenstein, Pudovkin or even other movies by Dovzhenko is never overshadowed by soviet propaganda. Unfortunatelly, in this case you find virtually nothing but communistic pathos.
