the same villain one night after another - that was quite a surprise. and a cute story to go with it

A great film, pitting the good nature of man against the Devil played brilliantly by Claude Rains.

good comedy but nothing new here's the formula: "i married a witch"+ "heaven can wait"+ "a guy named joe"- WWII= this one

Paul Muni possibly at his best, if that's possible. Anne Baxter, so young, so young that she had yet to learn how to chew up the scenery. But it's Muni's movie. Every character he played was a 360 from the next and this is no different. His every move, getsture, posture is character driven. A fine treat to see or revisit.

Very good film, from 1946 B&W, staring Paul Muni. About a man who is killed by his partner in crime, makes a deal with the devil to come back from hell, but then has second thoughts about what he's supposed to do.
