I'm vey young still but when I listened to Amy Whinehouse for the first time I immediately loved her music.

I saw this at the Grammy Museum screening on June 5th. All I can say is what you think happened to this young woman is not nearly as heart breaking as what did happen. It is a powerful story and even though it is painful to watch at least now there is a context to what happen. The story behind the song Rehab is very powerful. When I listened to the song before, I felt pity that she didn't go. Once I saw what happen, pity turned to fury. The director was in attendance and took questions from the audience. When asked how he thought the movie will be received he said he wasn't sure but he had met many journalists, who were part of this media frenzy tell him they felt a little bit ashamed of themselves for being a part of it. I can see why her father has distanced himself. He doesn't come off in a good light but it's his words and his actions that you see. I would say more but I don't want to accidentally write any spoilers, yes we know how it ends...but the journey...

Review 2 from TCFF Film Festival: Amy is simply one of the best documentaries in years! Not only will fans of Amy Winehouse find much to love and learn, but casual film goers will find themselves invested throughout the 2 hour runtime! The life of the late Amy Winehouse is shown as real and authentic as you could get. Nothing here mirrors a puff piece or ad of any kind. The film makers show Winehouse as a human being inside and out and not just a figure. Amy is consistently moving and touching, as well as devastating once we realize what more Winehouse had to give to this world. As tragic as this story is, there is also much heart and love felt through this documentary. Amy is one of the best films of the year!

We all know what happens in the end, but it's still a heartbreaking spectacle to see. One of the most disturbing parts to watch about the movie is all the people who were in her inner circle being ok with her downward spiral in exchange for her performances.
