Great documentary. Made me really miss my vinyl. Lovingly told about Russ Solomon. Lovingly told by Colin Hanks. Solomon is a man who had a vision, in the right place, at the right time. UNTIL there was a massive shift, a total paradigm shift in how people got their music. Vinyl and CDs are no longer important. Music is now downloaded for $.99 a song. Tower Records got beaten down by technology just like Blockbuster. I, for one, do not know what Tower could have done to stay relevant to consumers and stay in business.

Miss Tower! Met some great friends and bought some great albums too.

This movie makes you appreciate anew the one-on-one social dimension lost in the music industry’s headlong switch to digital downloads.

The documentary stays entirely within the corporate world of record sales, which may seem an airless atmosphere to someone who never haunted such joints. Yet the movie gradually expands to give us a somewhat larger picture of the music business.

Terrific, fast paced, fun- even though you know how the story ends. This is not just a story about a record store. Tom Hanks' son Colin (born in Sacramento, just like Tower) directs a brilliant story about the evolving music business, consumer habit, passion over profit, ego over economics, family over talent, oh...and rock and roll.
