Cinephiles who thought Atom Egoyan went off the rails with the tawdry cheese of "Where The Truth Lies" will be happy to see "Adoration," which shows the Canadian filmmaker once again in fine, austere form.

I really enjoyed this new Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter) film - quite complex and dark at times, so not for everyone. A young student writing an essay for his French class reveals that his father was a terrorist, only to have his story spread all over the internet. But, is his story true??? Great twists in the film, and decent performances.

Once all the pieces of the story are assembled, the whole thing turns out to be not that big of a deal.

Sad, bizarre, and a tad creepy. In other words, an Atom Egoyan movie. I wasn't expecting much but I really enjoyed this one. I wish Scott Speedman would do more of these sorts of movies. Also, it's so nice to see a movie shot in Toronto not trying to pretend to be somewhere else!
