Bed and Board (1970)

Parisian everyman Antoine Doinel has married his sweetheart Christine Darbon, and the newlyweds have set up a cozy domestic life of selling flowers and giving violin lessons while Antoine fitfully works on his long-gestating novel. The penultimate film in Traffaut's Antoine Doinel series. This follows on from Stolen Kisses. Antione and Christine are now married and quickly have a child. Antoine starts a new job and falls for a beautiful Japanese woman. Both Jean-Pierre Leaud and Claude Jade put in great performances and the film is filled with humorous dialogue.

This film follows the conjugal career of Antonie Doinel, the boy from 'The 400 Blows' (there are two intervening films following the character that I've missed). Average fare from Truffaut, a big decline from when he was still Nouvelle Vague. The film is replete with references to cinematic lore: Resnais' 'Last Year at Marienbad' (gloriously spoofed here in a short TV segment) and theJacques Tati films (M. Hulot makes a cameo appearance at a metro station). I think I was a bigger fan of Truffaut and his favorite actor (J-P Leaud) when they were both younger.

toute la saga des Antoine Doinel est tout simplement génial. Personnage super désagréable et antipathique mais qui malgré tout en est attanchant....comme tous les anti heros finallement.
