Bed and Board (1970)

Parisian everyman Antoine Doinel has married his sweetheart Christine Darbon, and the newlyweds have set up a cozy domestic life of selling flowers and giving violin lessons while Antoine fitfully works on his long-gestating novel. As Christine becomes pregnant with the couple's first child, Antoine finds himself enraptured with a young Japanese beauty. The complications change the course of their relationship forever.

Funny but just OK movie. Part of the Antoine Doinel saga.

The Truffaut style overstayed its welcome and starts to feel weary. The supporting cast is also not as quirky and likeable as in the previous Antoine Doinel movies. But it still has a certain charm and the runtime flies by.

It's my first Truffaut film... and I'm afraid I seem to have started at the middle of the character's story - but oh well. A very strong film with a wonderful screenplay and two very strong leads, specially Léaud.

Antoine Doinel gets married. He's French. You know the trouble. This installment of his life story lacks a little from fresh unpretentious charm of "Stolen Kisses" but there's enough of Truffaut's genius playfulness to make it a treat.

funny in a different, more serious manner than "stolen kisses" but very satisfying. Doinel is one of cinema's most interesting and engaging characters.
