My all time favorite! Polanski and Depardieu both deliver an extraordinary powerful performance. This is a movie 'Ã la Kafka', that goes far beyond your typical 'psychological thriller'. The setting is deceivingly simple - two man dialoguing in a room for the most part - but perfect setup for the otherwise intrinsically complex, engaging and dramatic dynamic at play between the two personas, and the viewer. It's a mind-provoking movie that explores the soul's innermost secrets, brilliantly weaving conflict, contradiction, pain and desire, with an ultimate sense of beauty and an unpredictable ending.

In his least Tornatore-esque film, the revered director is at his best.

Polanski is brilliant. Depardieu at his best. Great ending.

Great movie. Great cast. Great idea. Morricone's score perfectly describes Onoff feelings.

Film intrigante con un Depardieu in stato di grazia. Forse un po' lento a tratti ma se si superano i momenti più cupi si arriva al finale a (quasi) sorpresa.
