Another beautiful David Lean epic, same gorgeous scenery and wide-angle shots. Fascinating story on race, religion, colonialism, marriage, misunderstanding, nationalism/independence movements/identity politics, and travelers obsessed with authenticity.

Vivid, pitch-perfect realization of classic cross-cultural novel is still thoughtful and penetrating. The late, great Lean's final masterpiece.

I beleive this was David Lean's last commercial film. It is an excellent one though not my favorite film from the director. It features a fine cast and superb acting. I found the novel's ending to be more satisfactory and in keeping with the overall plot of the story. It is a must see.
