A Dog Year (2009)

Jon Katz is close to burnout. He's a writer with writer's block; his wife has left for her sister's because he's emotionally distant; he rarely answers his phone. A kennel sends him a border collie that's undisciplined because of abuse. Despite a series of mishaps, Jon decides to keep trying with the dog, and he rents a dilapidated farm house to give the dog room to run. A local handyman refers Jon to a woman who might be able to help him train the dog. Reluctantly, Jon gives her a try. Is the dog the problem, or the owner?

One star because Jeff Bridges is always a good performance and it was a cute looking energetic dog. For the rest, trash this movie... no story, as things got bad, they got well again without any given reason.

I love animal movies, especially ones about Boarder Collies! The dog in this film reminded me so much of my Finley. If you own, or know a Boarder Collie, you will like this cute story ;)

A very appealing idea that failed to deliver... Although I would gladly watch it again (being a dog lover), I think it's pretty mediocre as a movie. The script is weak and the characters / situations underdeveloped. The stars go only for Bridges and the dog.
