A Brilliant Monster (2018)

Where do you get those brilliant ideas? A question which plagues all creators. They say success comes with a price, but for the story of Mitch Stockridge, an author of self-help books, that price feeds a bigger monster inside of us all. Into the stressful depths of the creative mind, the lengths that one goes through for success, and the anxiety to keep on producing while on top.

A Brilliant Monster is a cut above many creaky low-budget under-the-radar indies. It's confident and genuinely cinematic despite its apparent lack of visual ambition and it's shot through with jet black humour.

Matthew Pejkovic 09 Jun 2018

A metaphor rich, character driven horror-drama that is both relevant and thought provoking.

Bobby LePire 30 Oct 2017

There is certainly a lot to admire in A Brilliant Monster, with its stellar cast and stirring directing. But the rich visuals don't overcome the story's shortcomings, with the film being rendered confusing and pointless at the end.

Norm Gidney 24 Jun 2018

On the plus side, this was a watchable movie by any definition. Engaging story of a man selling his soul for success by way of a nasty monster...
