Many are comparing Julie Delpy to Woody Allen. I can see the similarities, but I think Delpy's wit is just a bit edgier than Allen's. Loved this one as much as the prequel, 2 Days in Paris. Can't wait to see more of her work.

Delpy directs, writes and stars in what feels like a very personal family drama. The relationships portrayed although heightened in their melodrama are wonderfully played out. Rock's attempts to hold it together whilst this French family overruns his life is particularly well handled.

Even when it stumbles, however, 2 Days in New York retains an airy vibe, reflecting its dogged intention to charm its viewers. But seeing as "2 Days in Paris" never felt especially irksome, this affable sequel deserves the same insouciant shrug.
