Okay. I understand it might be pretty funny to see a bunch of powdered-wig-wearing Colonial old men break into an operatic song and dance, and sure, it really is! But if you can just get past this and focus on the storyline, 1776 can be such a great movie to watch. Yes, apart from the fact that this movie is, indeed, a musical, it's true that the film is somewhat historically inaccurate. But who cares? It's still a wonderful representation of what transpired that summer, and the risks these long-forgotten men took in order to secure our freedoms and basic human rights. As the saying goes, the two things you never want to see being made are laws and sausages, and the rule still applies to 18th-century legislation. So, the musical numbers add some fun and emotion to what could be a very long and tedious depiction of how the Declaration of Independence came to be. 1776 is a fun movie and makes the incredible tale of the birth of our nation accessible to everybody. The songs are pretty catchy, too!
