Excellent Samurai film, it's been done many times but not his good..very violent

One of the best Samurai movies I've watched and the first for a work of Takashi Miike. This movie had these ingredients to the recipe for success. A memorable villain, whose evilness makes recent villains look harmless in comparison. A ragtag group which includes a master swordsman, untested warrior and a hunter. A well-thought and excellent execution of the story. Impressive costume design and battle scenes. CGI was used but sparingly. The sword-fights were portrayed as realistic as it can be. All in all, this movie delivered from start to finish. For audiences who love jidaigeki movies, this movie is highly recommended.

Other than one scene at the very end of this film I loved everything about this movie. The directing is top notch, the acting is even better. Action, action and yes more ACTION!! The best samurai action on film in years.

It is seriously the most epic samurai action movie I've seen by far. No wires or CGI was used in the sword fights. Last 30 minutes = HOLY SHIT! Takashi Miike is genius. Even the Kill Bill movies won't ever top this one.
